TAILOR-MADE KIT FOR GRUPPO VILLA MARIA: HVAC EFFICIENCY AT HEIGHT.
The case of the new HVAC system for the Gruppo Villa Maria hospital, designed by Fiorini Industries.
This is the challenge that brought together Fiorini Industries and Eurostrada srl for Gruppo Villa Maria: a complex energy retrofit project that transformed a logistical limitation into an example of efficiency and innovation.
The context
As part of the refurbishment of the building’s heating plant, Gruppo Villa Maria chose to replace the old boilers with a high-capacity heat pump system, offering greater sustainability and performance.
To optimize system operation, it was necessary to integrate a thermal storage tank and dedicated circulation pumps for both heating and cooling.
The real challenge? The impossibility of accessing the existing plant room: the entire hydraulic section had to be installed on the roof, next to the heat pumps.
The Fiorini approach
Working in synergy with the design studio, the installer and the local Fiorini Industries agency, a compact and pre-assembled custom hydronic kit was designed and built.
A ready-to-use solution developed to ensure:
All with the certainty of installing the system in a protected area, minimizing on-site interventions — a decisive advantage, especially in a hospital environment.
The challenges overcome
The design required great attention to space optimization: tanks, pumps and hydraulic components had to coexist within an extremely limited area.
Thanks to a specially engineered internal architecture, the technical team achieved maximum compactness without compromising performance or maintenance accessibility.
A perfect balance between functionality and technical design.

From design to reality
The project required several months of preliminary development, followed by engineering, manufacturing and commissioning activities, all completed in approximately six months.
Dedicated transport and crane positioning on the roof completed an installation made simple thanks to the Fiorini prefabrication approach: a true plug & play plant room.

Added value
For the end client, the project means cost reduction, optimized space and simplified maintenance, supported by the online hydronic kit configurator available on the website, enabling precise and customized design from the earliest stages.
For Fiorini Industries, this is another example of how collaboration can generate technical solutions that combine innovation, efficiency and practicality.
Projects like this demonstrate that even in complex situations, tailor-made prefabrication can turn critical challenges into opportunities. In particular, as this is a healthcare facility, the system was designed to guarantee optimal performance and operational continuity 365 days a year — an essential requirement in the healthcare sector.
A project that further strengthens the company’s role as a key partner in the world of hydronic kits and high-efficiency HVAC solutions, also thanks to the integration of engineering expertise and advanced digital tools.
